Description and uses
Arsenic is the 33rd element of the periodic table. It has been used for centuries as a poison and pesticide due to its very high toxicity. It was discovered
around 1250 when Albertus Magnus mixed arsenic trioxide with olive oil, and heated it to extract pure arsenic.
It takes between 2-20 mg per kilogram of body mass for arsenic to kill you. It kills people by binding to the enzymes in your body that help control
metabolism, which can prevent cells from getting enough energy.
Arsenic has one naturally occuring isotope, 75As, making it a monoisotopic element.
